A New England sea captain in the 1880s arrives at his fiancée’s sprawling Texas ranch where he becomes embroiled in a feud between two families over a valuable patch of land. Stars Gregory Peck, Jean Simmons, and Carroll Baker.

William Wyler directed this almost three hour western with a sure hand and your interest does not wane for one minute. Gregory Peck had a hand in casting much of the film, specifically Burl Ives in his Academy Award winning performance as Rufus Hannessy.
