When he is entrusted with the duty of uncovering the meaning of newspaper tycoon Charles Foster Kane’s (Orson Welles) mysterious final utterance, a reporter slowly begins to uncover the intriguing glimpse of a multi-faceted personality that had ascended from nowhere to dizzyingly lofty pinnacles. Largely assisted by Kane’s best friend and colleague, Jedediah Leland (Joseph Cotten), and his lover, singer and opera miniaturist, Susan Alexander (Dorothy Comingore), he is afraid he may never get to the meaning of the mysterious final word, “Rosebud.”
