Renowned jazz vocalist Aubrey Johnson brings her Brooklyn-based sextet to The Bay Area for the first time! The band will be playing a mix of Aubrey’s original music, jazz standards, and Brazilian music from their debut album, Unraveled, released on Outside In Music and produced by Steve Rodby (of the Pat Metheny Group). The band’s unusual instrumentation—voice, violin, bass clarinet, piano, bass, and drums creates and unique and exciting sound that has been recognized through grants from Chamber Music America and South Arts, as well as artist residencies at MacDowell and Ucross. Aubrey’s singing has been featured on 50 albums, including two Grammy Award-winning and three Grammy-nominated albums.
