In impoverished Dublin, siblings Ossie (Ciaran Fitzgerald) and Tito (Ruaidhri Conroy) live with father (Gabriel Byrne) who lost his wife. He deals with his sorrow and pain by being a heavy drinker. The boys’ miserable life changes with the arrival of their nomadic grandfather (David Kelly) who brings with him a magic horse from a mythical world – Tir na n-Og. However, the treacherous cops get hold of the legendary horse to sell it as a racing horse. The boys get angry and decide to free the legendary horse.
